There are many benefits to wearing a swim cap, they streamline you in the water reducing drag caused by each individual strand of hair. The most common type of swim cap is the silicone cap, it offers great elasticity and durability. Some say silicone caps don't pull your hair but this is debatable!

Latex swimming caps are thinner than silicone caps so they tend to mould to your head better but they are easier to split.

One of the most popular swim caps is made of polyester. They are completely porous so your hair gets as wet as not wearing a cap but they are very soft and comfortable to wear.

It is a common misconception that swim caps should keep your hair dry, this is untrue. By chance, some may in some circumstances but if you want to ensure your hair stays dry, stay out of the pool!

To put on your swimming cap gently stretch the sides by putting your hands inside the hat so you stretch the entire side of the hat outwards in opposite directions and then pull over your head. The hat may seem quite tight when initially donned but should quickly become more comfortable.
